Make A Difference

By “bringing an week of smiles and hope through basketball,” we show the boys and girls that someone cares about them. In the midst of sometimes terrible economic and social circumstances that these children face on a daily basis, we let them know that they are important and have a “hope and a future.” Read More...

Coaches Corner

The 13th Annual Basketball Smiles Camp dates have been set for June 18-22, 2012. Fund raising efforts are in full swing.  It takes a lot of folks investing in the mission of Basketball Smiles to allow us to make a difference in the lives of these boys and girls who live in underserved neighborhoods in the Bahamas.

A recent report by the Department of Social Services in the Bahamas noted that 600 cases of child abuse were reported in 2010 in the Bahamas, an increase of 24% from 2009.  Statistics like this really grip my heart, because many of the children we have in our program are victims of abuse.

We need your financial support to continue to “bring a week of smiles and hope through basketball” to these boys and girls.  Basketball Smiles is a 501 (c) 3 charity, and your gifts are tax deductible.

“Thank You!” to Mrs. Carla Brown and the Clyde High School Key Club.  The Key Club members chose Basketball Smiles as one of the charitable projects for this school year and have been raising money for Basketball Smiles during Clyde High School basketball games.

On Tuesday, January 30, at the basketball game between Clyde High School and Eastland High School, Sam Nichols made a presentation to the fans from both teams.

Following his presentation, Key Club members went into the stands and collected donations.  Both Clyde and Eastland fans were very generous and it was a very successful night, thanks to the Clyde Key Club members!

Also, the pictures from the 2011 camp have been posted. Check them out under the "Reasons to Smile" tab.

Thanks, again, to the Clyde High School Key Club, and their sponsor, Mrs. Carla Brown.
